DENSO hosts Air Conditioning Summit for future vehicle generations

Experts in A/C technology gathered at the second DENSO Climate Summit on the peak of Zuspitze in Germany

For the second year in a row, DENSO invited workshops and their distributors to meet vehicle air conditioning industry experts on Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze.

The exclusive vehicle A/C industry event took place from January 27th-29th 2017 following DENSO’s ‘Coolest weeks of the year’ promotion, which rewarded garages with Aral fuel vouchers for choosing DENSO OE quality A/C Compressors and Condensers from May until September. Three tickets were also raffled amongst participating workshops.

The opening day of DENSO’s Climate Summit offered workshops and distributors an exclusive guided tour through the advanced A/C engineering and testing facilities at DENSO AUTOMOTIVE Deutschland in Eching.

DENSO then showed attendees how it can replicate the sun with its 1200 watt ‘Sun’ installation. The impressive displayed simulated temperatures up to 50°C and the position of the sun at any time of the day around the globe. The technology helps DENSO’s engineers to test how fast a vehicle cabin heats up and cools down under certain conditions.

Nico Carucci, Regional Manager DACH at DENSO Aftermarket, introduced the visitors to DENSO’s global OE and Aftermarket activities. Following that, the visitors were given a unique insight into the development process of future A/C systems.

Furthermore, to establish how quietly the A/C systems operate, visitors were shown the wind tunnel and several acoustic test chambers. These impressively illustrated the extensive testing and quality assessments that ensure the outstanding quality of DENSO compressors, and unrivalled low warranty ratio.

A class of its own: Latest news and technical talks atop 2.962 m altitude

On the second day of the DENSO Climate Summit visitors discussed the upcoming A/C season. Air Conditioning expert Andreas Lamm led technical talks ranging from A/C servicing to the future development of A/C systems design.

The unique 360-degree panorama and the view across snowy peaks of the Alps provided the perfect setting for technical learning as well as relaxed discussions far from day-to-day business. The attendees agreed the supporting programme which included a visit to the Olympic jump in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, offered an extraordinary view that is otherwise the sole preserve of athletes.

Carucci said, “The idea of the Climate Summit is to encourage a professional, positive dialogue between us as supplier, the workshops and our distribution partners at the beginning of each A/C season. As the market leader, the event not only has pronounced our continued commitment to innovation within the industry but also underlined our position of being a reliable, future-oriented partner to the aftermarket which is approachable and available for its customers.

“This includes, first and foremost, thanking our workshop customers for choosing DENSO original parts when completing work on the refrigerant circuit. Therefore we believe it is a matter of course for us to express our close ties and commitment to our distribution partners.”

Margit Epple, Marketing Coordinator at DENSO Aftermarket said: “The positive responses have reassured us that the concept of the Climate Summit – including participants and the blend of technical information and social networking - is the right one.”
