DENSO Lambda Sensors growth continues

The OE quality, replacement Lambda Sensors programme offered by DENSO Europe B.V.’s Business Unit After Market & Industrial Solutions has continued to expand in 2014 – making it one of the market’s dynamic and extensive Lambda ranges.

DENSO After Market has already confirmed two significant range extensions to this programme so far this year, with more planned for 2015.

The first of these, in February, saw the introduction of 19 new DENSO Lambda Sensor part numbers covering 54 OE part numbers relating to recent, popular applications from Opel, Vauxhall, Renault, SAAB, and DAEWOO. This was followed in May by the publication of a new DENSO Europe After Market Lambda Sensors Catalogue 2014/15, featuring useful installation and fault analysis guides, tips on brand recognition by wire colour, and an informative Questions and Answers section.

Then, in August, DENSO After Market announced a further extension of its Lambda Sensors programme, with the addition of 13 new Lambda Sensor part numbers covering 43 OE part numbers. These included dozens of popular applications for Vauxhall, Hyundai, Kia, Audi and Mitsubishi vehicles.

Thanks to these range extensions, DENSO After Market’s Lambda Sensors programme now comprises 412 part numbers and 5,394 applications, with a European vehicle parc coverage of more than 68 percent. The range covers 1,988 OE references, 286 of which are unique to DENSO and not offered by any other major brands.

The range features heated and unheated Lambda Sensors (switching type), A/F sensors (linear type), Lean Burn sensors and Titania sensors; both direct fit and universal. Types include both regulating sensors (fitted before the catalyst) and diagnostic sensors (fitted after the catalyst). Every DENSO After Market Lambda Sensor is precision designed, manufactured to strictest OEM standards, and subjected to rigorous testing to ensure 100% specification match.

Stefan Verhoef, Product Manager Lambda Sensors at DENSO After Market explained: “The vehicle parc coverage of our Lambda Sensors has grown steadily in recent years. This latest range extension is a key example of DENSO bringing to market the very latest products for the most popular applications. What’s more, our Lambda Sensors are close to original OE product, so they offer a true, direct fit solution that is exceptionally quick, cost effective and reliable to install. The programme therefore offers customers the full package: the highest quality products, strong technical support and the latest information to help maximise sales potential.”

Since their initial introduction in the 1970s, lambda sensors have become an integral part of modern cars, not only in terms of reducing the vehicle’s environmental impact but also reducing running costs.

Due to ever-stricter vehicle emissions legislation throughout Europe, demand for lambda sensors has increased. Today, almost every petrol car already features two or more OE-fit lambda sensors, and they are now also being fitted to diesel cars as original equipment. This high replacement demand, and on-going changes in emissions regulations, mean that there is extensive sales potential for garages, wholesalers and distributors.

DENSO is one of the leading OE Lambda Sensor suppliers in the world, with several hundred million of its products measuring the air/fuel mixture in leading marques such as Toyota, Honda, Jaguar, Volvo, Mazda, Subaru, Land Rover, Daimler Chrysler, General Motors and Opel/Vauxhall. Amongst the company’s many technological achievements in the field, DENSO was first to introduce quantitative measurement to its Lambda Sensors; ensuring they sense both if the air/fuel mixture is too lean/too rich, and by how much.

Each of DENSO’s aftermarket Lambda Sensors is manufactured to the same, exacting OE standards that it supplies to these leading car makers, ensuring long, reliable operation and customer satisfaction.
