With a series of successful WEC races in 2016, including a superb win in Fuji, the team came very close to overall victory at the world-famous 24 Hours of Le Mans.

With Audi having pulled out of the WEC, the DENSO-sponsored Toyota team’s main rival in the LMP1 class this season will be Porsche, with plans to officially unveil the TS050 Toyota Hybrid race vehicle on March 31.

The team’s two Toyota Hybrids are to be piloted by reigning FIA World Touring Car Champion José María López, partnered with Mike Conway and Kamui Kobayashi. The second car remains unchanged, with Sebastian Buemi, Anthony Davidson and Kazuki Nakajima behind the wheel.

For Le Mans and Spa-Franchorchamps, the two most highly anticipated races of the season, Toyota is to field three cars driven by Stéphane Sarrazin and two other drivers yet to be announced.

Official pre-season testing begins April 1, 2, with the 24 Hours of Le Mans staged on the weekend of June 17.

The Toyota Gazoo vehicles will feature innovative DENSO technology, including DENSO’s renowned spark plugs – as used inside many prestige and performance road cars and available to the aftermarket across Europe.
