DENSO plays key role in safer driving

DENSO Corporation has begun testing advanced driving support technology on a public road in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

The process involves testing automated driving scenarios in a single lane and testing automatic lane changes, as well as other driving manoeuvres. The goal is to develop technologies that reduce driver workload and assist safer driving.

Previously, DENSO trialled this technology at its test course in Japan. DENSO’s goal with public road testing is to identify, analyse, and solve real-life problems that do not occur on the test course.

The tests are part of activities led by a pioneering, multi-company Vehicle Safety Technology Project Team to reduce traffic accidents. The Project Team is organised by the Aichi Prefectural Government and involves companies and organisations operating in the prefecture.

DENSO has been developing its advanced driving assistance technology to achieve safer, more reliable driving while the driver remains in control of the vehicle.

Development and commercialisation of this technology will help prevent traffic accidents; contributing to increased automotive safety.
