Technical training – are you top of the league?

DENSO digitalizes entire training program to keep technicians upskilled during Europe-wide lockdowns

League Mechanics

With opportunities for technical training limited during the Coronavirus crisis, DENSO has digitalized its entire training offering, with a series of webinars focusing on everything from air conditioning and thermal management, to oxygen sensors and spark plugs.

DENSO’s technical portal offers a range of online courses accessible to technicians from the comfort of their home, or via their smartphone device. All courses provide audio, visual, and interactive materials and are written and delivered by top industry instructors. There are programs suitable for all skill levels including students, working technicians, workshop owners and master technicians. Certification is part of the courses – on completion of the final test in each course, participants can download and print a personalized certificate displaying their expertise.

As part of the e-learning delivery, technicians can join DENSO’s ‘League of True Mechanics,’ in which technicians from selected countries within Central and Eastern Europe can collect ‘DENSO coins’ for each completed course. The 10 participants with the most coins are rewarded with valuable prizes, such as DENSO’s vehicle inspection tool e-Videns with free annual license, Toyota Gazoo racing merchandise, branded backpacks and more.

Attracting thousands

Within just two months of launching the online training, more than a thousand technicians had signed up to the portal, where they can complete courses covering all of DENSO’s key product groups including alternators, starters and spark plugs, and air conditioning, with more courses continually being added.

The first course made available to technicians focused on air conditioning, with a series of free webinars delivered by DENSO’s technical expert Richard Groot. The course covers all aspects of air conditioning and thermal management systems, including common failures. It aims to equip technicians with the necessary information to improve best practice techniques, ensure accurate diagnosis and learn about the latest technological and environmental innovations. Delivered in both English and Polish, the course was well received by mechanics – so much so that DENSO plans to run it again as soon as possible. New course dates are being added for the remainder of July and August. For more details, select your country from the DENSO EU homepage.

DENSO Europe Pan European Strategic Marketing Manager, Fatiha Laauich, said: “Webinars have become an integral part of DENSO’s training strategy to keep sharing information, tips and developing the skills of UK workshops during these difficult times.

“As lockdown restrictions ease across Europe and more people take to the roads, it is even more important that technicians keep their skills topped up so they can confidently work on a range of vehicle issues and ensure motorists remain safe. The purpose behind our online learning platform is to enable technicians, and the workshops they represent, to improve the service they provide for their customers and help assure the long-term future of their businesses.”
