DENSO Track2Track - Day 9

After a whirlwind 10 days, the DENSO Track 2 Track campaign finally came to a conclusion today, as the team hosted some 40 customers and a host of UK media at one of Britain’s most iconic race tracks – the fast, flowing Brands Hatch circuit.

Having travelled from Moscow and through nine countries en route to the UK, spreading the news about the launch of the Iridium TT spark plug, our two racing drivers – Rebecca Jackson and Natalia Freidina - and our specially-liveried Lotus Exige S arrived at the natural speedbowl that is the Kent circuit.

We held presentations to introduce the new plug and then treated our guests to the opportunity to drive on this famous circuit in a selection of sportscars, ranging from Lotus Elise, Lotus 211 and the super-quick Ariel Atom.

There was also the chance for guests to try their hand at the black art of rallying, thanks to the Brands Hatch rally stage and its fleet of 190-bhp rear-wheel drive Toyota GT86s.

And then, of course, there was the final Time Attack Challenge between Rebecca and Natalia. After the scores were evened up in Poznan, the Brands Hatch edition of the Track 2 Track challenge was for the overall series win.

Although Natalia had never driven on the Brands Hatch circuit before, she challenged Rebecca but ultimately it was home advantage to the British driver and she sealed overall Track 2 Track honours with the fastest lap time around the 1.2-mile Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

It’s been a long and emotional journey during which we’ve hosted more than 150 guests at the live events at Moscow, Poznan and Brands Hatch, travelled some 3,000km and visited three of the most evocative ‘lost’ F1 circuits Europe has to offer – a treat for our racing drivers and fans alike.

Hedy Borreman, Manager Marketing Communication for DENSO International Europe, said: “At DENSO, we have a rich heritage in both motorsport and industry innovation. The Track 2 Track campaign was established primarily to launch the new Iridium TT plug but also to reflect our heritage and reputation as a pioneer.

It has been a fascinating journey across Europe, during which we have entertained and educated many of our customers, as well as the media, about DENSO’s history as well as its future. Thank you to Rebecca and Natalia, who have been superb and hard-working ambassadors for DENSO throughout Track 2 Track. Hedy Borreman

Ten days. Nine countries. 150 guests and countless hours behind the wheel. One epic road trip.
