For the 2022 competition, the range of prizes grew significantly in all the European regions, with specific prizes chosen to reflect what appeals to the technicians working in the different countries across Europe in which the LOTM competition is fought out, including the Balkans, the DACH region, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

The top prize winner in Sweden was Anton Johansson who works at an assembly contractor for new earthmovers at Zeppelin Sverige AB (Caterpillar Inc.) and there, Swedish Sales executive Leif Carlsson handed over the prize, a voucher of €150 for the Toyota Gazoo racing shop. On receiving his reward, Anton commented that he appreciated the courses and the fact that they are available in the local language and has recommended them to his colleagues and friends.

In the DACH region, the first and second placed winners work at the same company, "Car Union" in Leipzig, Germany. Denny Klietsch, who was in second place, was the winner in 2021 and convinced his colleague Thorsten Mächt to participate in 2022. However, Thorsten then went on to do one better than Denny and took first place this time around! "The online format is great, so during the year I was able to refresh my knowledge and complete the courses flexibly in the time that suited me,” said Thorsten. “In addition, the content of the topics is interesting and comprehensive."

As well as the individual title, the DACH region also held a LOTM competition for its distributors and as it made the online courses mandatory for its apprentices, all the winners came from one company, Otto Glas. So, while congratulations obviously go to the winners, the company’s forward thinking attitude towards training also deserves recognition. DENSO’s representative Claudia Manhardt personally handed over the prizes and said: “We wish them further success in their studies and professional activities and are happy to help them update their technical knowledge."

As representatives of the CEE region, both Serbia and Croatia embraced the competition with enthusiasm. Serbia was another country where both workshops and distributors entered the LOTM competition and coming first and second in the workshop category were “super happy”, Nemanja Vukovic and “very happy and proud” Jovica Dimitrijevic, and in the distributor category, Milos Misic followed by Igor Madjarevoci.

In Croatia, where the LOTM competition was solely for workshops, the top three palaces were taken by winner Zvonimir Šrajbek, followed by Nikola Kolarić and Hrvoje Ivancevic. However, the reaction to being among the top technicians in the country was summed up by firth placed Alen Božić, who said: “as a member of the group of winners, I must admit that it impresses me, but that is not as important to me as the learned knowledge.”

Rounding the European review is Pasqhale Ziello from RAFF, who was the fifth placed winner in Italy and Edd Hunt of The Car Consultants who took the top stop in the UK.

“Our congratulations go out to all the prize winners and everyone that entered the LOTM competition throughout Europe in 2022,” said DENSO Europe, Pan European Strategic Marketing Manager, Fatiha Laauich. “We’ll be launching the 2023 competition in April, so we urge both previous entrants and technicians who’ve so far yet to enter, to register this year and aim to knock the various winners off the top spot and take the prestigious title.

“We introduced the LOTM in 2020 to provide a little friendly competition to run alongside high quality training modules to help technicians increase their technical knowledge and improve their overall skillset, and it became an instant hit with professionals across Europe.

“Although the study courses from the previous year’s competitions remain on the LOTM area on our e-Learning platform, which incidentally, was first created in the CEE region, so it’s great to have winners from both Croatia and Serbia, to keep the competition fresh and present important additional technical content, we introduce new modules every year.

“The e-learning programme provides detailed technical information about DENSO products and the interactive online courses that the LOTM competition is based on, relies on technicians studying the material and a final exam, during which they can win DENSO coins. These coins are awarded by correctly answering the question posed by a ‘mini quiz’ that periodically appears within the modules and then in the final exam at the end. In addition, once the final exam is successfully completed, all entrants can download a personalised certificate, which they can print out, frame and hang in the workshop.”

Registering for the e-Learning platform is free and straightforward, as technicians simply sign up via the following link: https://www.denso-technic.com and while there, they can also sign up to the LOTM competition.

DENSO also runs regular free webinars with the opportunity to ask the company’s specialists subsequent questions. So, for further details of this or any other aspect of the DENSO Aftermarket programme, please visit: https://www.denso-am.eu/it
