DENSO launches ‘Everycool’ to the heavy-duty sector

DENSO has developed Everycool, an advanced cabin cooling system that provides comfort for the driver and energy efficiency by reducing the vehicle’s environmental impact when the engine is not running

DENSO is committed to realising a well-being cycle society for the future by connecting and harmonising what it calls the ‘The Five Flows’, which are: Free Movement of People, Flow of Goods, Energy Utilisation, Minimisation of Resource Requirements and the Flow of Data. Within the area of the Flow of Goods, DENSO is focused on addressing challenges within the logistics industry, such as improving working conditions for truck drivers and achieving efficient energy utilisation.

Available for purchase during December*1 this year through DENSO SOLUTION CORPORATION in Japan, the newly developed Everycool is a cooling system that can be used when a heavy duty vehicle’s engine is not running. It achieves the dual objectives of improving driver working conditions during the hot summer season and reducing environmental impacts by using less fuel, therefore promoting efficient energy utilisation.

Comfort and Energy Efficiency Combined

Everycool leverages DENSO's expertise in air conditioning technology, directing cool air intensively towards the driver, enhancing their comfort. As it can be powered using the vehicle’s standard battery, compared with traditional cabin-wide cooling systems, it reduces power consumption by approximately 57%*2, therefore achieving greater energy efficiency.

Compact and Lightweight

Unlike conventional cooling systems that have separate indoor and outdoor fans for heat exchange, Everycool integrates the fan, enabling a single unit to perform the entire heat exchange process. Additionally, it features a small electric compressor specially developed using in-vehicle technology. These two innovations result in a reduction of approximately 30% in size*2 and approximately 63% in weight*2 compared to a conventional cooling system. This compact design also contributes to maintaining sufficient cabin space for the driver, while enhancing the quality of their rest breaks, so supporting safe and efficient vehicle operation and delivery efficiency.

Compatibility with a Wide Range of Vehicle Types

The minimal size of Everycool compared to a traditional cooling system allows for its installation without obstructing the rear window*3 visibility, making it suitable for a variety of vehicle types, not only large and medium-sized trucks, but also tractors, for example. In addition, it can be installed in both new and existing vehicles.
